I was born in Preston, Idaho at the age of "O". My early childhood was spent in Oregon where I came away with the love of the outdoors, especially fishing. At the age of 9, we moved to Los Angeles. At that time, I began to realize the importance of service to the community as so many people helped my family and I through difficult times.

in 1962 i started to work for the Southern Caiifornia Gas Company as a Serviceman. Throughout my thirty-three year career I had many positions within the company. In 1987 I accepted the position of Customer Services Manager of the San Joaquin Valley. That position brought me, my wife, and our two daughters to Visalia. We now celebrate 48 years of marriage.

After I retired, I was a volunteer with the Visalia Police Department as a Reserve Community Officer. I also traveled to Ontario, Canada, white water kayaking for nine years.

In 1988 I began a long association with United Way of Tulare county, serving as President for two terms. I currently serve on the Board of Directors.

Also in 1988, I joined the Visalia Breakfast Lions, a very active club serving the community with many projects. I served as President of the club and was Chairman of the Flag Day Program for many years.

One of the other projects that became dear to my heart was the annual Visalia Band Review, which was a joint effort by all the Lions Clubs in Visalia. For many years, I was honored to be the announcer at the half-time competitions. Not having a musical background, I soon became very impressed with the young band members. I had a front-row seat to their dedication, hard work, and above all, their talents. I was blessed to have been given that opportunity.

I am still proud to call myself a Lion!
